Meant to be used.
Made to last.
Ky is an avid hands-on maker with a gentle and methodical touch. Coming into the discipline with a degree in Product Design, but finding his true passion in making and craft, Ky's pieces bring all the timeless beauty of traditional woodworking and make it feel right at home in the modern interior.
Ky has worked as a high-end furniture maker and designer, a cabinet maker, and in upholstery.
Recently he enjoyed time at the renowned Centre for Fine Woodworking in Nelson.

Inspired by the authenticity and lightness of Japanese carpentry, Ky prefers to make joints using hand tools to achieve ultimate control over their fit.
He also loves the elegance of light and fine lines, shedding excess material and displaying the mechanical tension of each piece. As legendary NZ furniture maker, Humphrey Ikin, said,
"The legs should look like they're working hard".
Ky is curious about New Zealand design's past and future- what will our identity become, as we continue to explore past a dependency on international styles?
